Article 9 - Amendments

  • The Junior Fire Officer must attend 75% of all meetings and activities. An excused absence does not count for or against attendance.
  • Any officer who fells to maintain the necessary requirements for being elected office (after 8 qualifying events) will be removed from office. The open position will filled with qualifying Jr. Firefighter by a majority vote of the membership.

Article 8 - Amendment of Bylaws

  • A majority vote is required by the membership of the Woden Junior Firefighters for an amendment to be proposed at the next regular meeting of the Woden Fire Department.
  • Upon a majority vote of the membership of the Junior Firefighters, the Junior Fire Chief will contact the Woden Fire Chief and inform him of the proposed amendment.
  • The amendment will then be proposed at the next meeting of the Woden Fire Department.
  • These bylaws may only be amended by 2/3rd vote by the members of the Woden Fire Department at a regular meeting of the department.
  • An amendment to these bylaws may also be made by any Firefighter / 1st Responder of the Woden Fire Department at any regular meeting of the department. The Junior Firefighter Adviser and the Junior Fire Chief will be advised of the proposed amendment. The amedment will then be voted on at the next regular meeting of the department and will require  a 2/3rd vote of the department. 

Article 7 - Quorum

  • A quorum to conduct business will require 50% of the membership to be in attendance.

Article 6 - Termination of Membership

  • A request to have a member of the Junior Firefighter's membership be terminated may be made by any member of the Woden Fire Department.
  • Upon a request being made to the Fire Chief of the Woden Fire Department for the termination of membership of a member of the Junior Firefighter Program, the Fire Chief of the Woden Fire Department will call a special meeting of the Board of the Woden Fire Department to discuss said requst. The Fire Chief will also contact the Junior Firefighter in question and inform member of the meeting and the reason for the meeting. The Junior Firefighter and the Junior Firefighter's legal guardian have the right to be present and to make a statement at the meeting. The adviser of the Junior Firefighter Program will also have the right to be present at this meeting, as well as, anyone whom the Woden Fire Chief deems pertinent to the meeting.
  • ​The board has the authority to terminate the membership of said member, suspend said member, place said member on probation or take no action.
  • Termination of membership from this program may be done at any time by a majority vote of the board of the Woden Fire Department or by request of a junior firefighter or their legal guardian

Article 5 - Duties of Officers

  • The Junior Fire Chief will assist the Junior Firefighter Adviser in conducting regular meetings of the Junior Firefighter Program. To be elected Junior Fire Chief, members must have been a member for at least 1 year.
  • The Junior Assistant Fire Chief will assume these duties in the absence of the Junior Fire Chief. To be elected Junior Assistant Chief, members must have been a member for at least 1 year.
  • ​The Secretary will take notes at all meetings of the Junior Firefighter Program. The Secretary will also keep an accurate record of all Junior Firefighters. To be elected Secretary, members must have been a member for at least 6 months.
  • The Treasurer will keep an accurate record of all funds of the Junior Firefighter Program. To be elected Junior Treasurer, members must have been a member for at least  6 months.

Article 4 - Officers

  • Officers of the Woden Junior Firefighter Program will consist of a Junior Fire Chief, Junior Assistant Fire Chief, Secretary and Treasurer.
  • Elections will be held at the first meeting in January of each year.
  • Vacancies in office will be filled by the Junior Firefighter Board.

Article 3 - Membership

  • Junior Firefighters must be at least 12 years of age and not older than 17 years of age. They must be citizens of the United States, residents of Nacogdoches County, and be of good moral character. Junior Firefighters must also maintain acceptable grades in their regular school work.
  • Members must abide by the Bylaws and Standard Operating Guidelines of the Woden Fire Department, as well as the Junior Firefighter Bylaws and Standard Operating Guidelines as set forth by the Woden Fire Department.
  • Upon reaching their 18th birthday, Junior Firefighters in good standing shall, by design, will become probationary firefighters with the Woden Fire Department and will receive full credit for their training with SFFMA
  • Failure to follow the bylaws, rules, and Standard Operating Guidelines for the Junior Firefighter program will be grounds for dismissal.

Article 2 - Organization

  • The Woden Volunteer Fire Department shall have the Junior Firefighter program. The Fire Chief of the Woden Fire Department will appoint advisers to oversee the program. The program will be governed by the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Woden Fire Department.
  • The Junior Firefighter program and members will abide by all federal and state regulations.

  • To provide a program for the youth of our community that will assist them with the challenges of life.
  • To provide a program that will help aid the Woden Fire Department with its operations.
  • To provide a program that will help our communities in times of need.
